Community Guidelines and Outbid Rules
Last updated: 13 October 2026. Rules version 1.0.
Outbid is a board of products built for product managers. Makers pay to place their product. Other members upvote it and write short public critiques. These rules apply to everything posted there and are part of our Terms of Service.
Part 1. Community Guidelines
What you may post
- A listing for a live product you built or work on, that PMs can use, at a link that works.
- A critique of a product: about the product, not the person who made it, written in your own name.
What you may not post
Anything listed in section 6 of our Terms of Service. In short, nothing that:
- belongs to someone else and that you have no right to use;
- is obscene, pornographic or paedophilic, invades privacy, harasses anyone on the basis of gender, is racially or ethnically objectionable, relates to money laundering or gambling, or promotes enmity between groups;
- is harmful to a child;
- infringes a patent, trademark or copyright;
- is false or misleading, or hides where it came from;
- impersonates someone;
- threatens India's security, sovereignty or public order, or insults another nation;
- contains malware;
- is, or advertises, an online game not verified as permissible;
- breaks any law.
On Outbid, also none of these:
- someone else's product without their permission;
- scams or misleading claims about what a product does;
- adult content, gambling, betting or chance-based games, or crypto token sales;
- referral or affiliate links, or link shorteners;
- the same product twice;
- other people's personal information;
- fake or extra accounts, or upvotes from them;
- a critique of a rival's product that does not say you work for the rival;
- ads for your own product inside a critique.
Limits
- Up to 3 live listings per account, and 2 new listings per account per day.
- One critique per account per listing, between 20 and 280 characters.
- You cannot upvote or critique your own listing.
- One upvote per account per listing. Upvotes are never sold and never count toward paid rank.
Automatic checks
Before a critique appears, an automated check reads it. The check can hold a critique for review. It never changes your words, and it never removes anything by itself. A person decides.
Part 2. Reporting and what happens next
How to report
Every listing and every critique has a Report link. Pick a reason and, if you like, add a note of up to 500 characters. You can also email [email protected], which works without an account.
Reasons: spam or a scam; misleading claim; someone else's product or trademark; harassment or hate; personal information; pretends to be someone; sexual content; illegal or harmful; something else.
You cannot report the same thing twice, or report your own content.
How fast we act
| What is reported | What we do |
|---|---|
| Content that impersonates someone, or sexual content about a person | Hidden at once on the first report, then reviewed. The law allows us at most 2 hours from the complaint |
| A court order, or a written order from an authorised government officer | Removed within 3 hours |
| Other requests to remove content under the Terms (for example harassment, obscenity or misinformation) | Resolved within 36 hours |
| Everything else, including "someone else's product" and copyright or trademark claims | Acknowledged within 24 hours (at once if you use the Report button), resolved within 7 days. Our own target is 36 hours |
A critique reported by 2 different accounts, or a listing reported by 3, is hidden while we review it. Those accounts must be at least a day old.
When you report, you see "Report sent" straight away. We email you the outcome when it is resolved.
We remove or restore. We never rewrite
If content breaks these rules, we take it down or leave it up. We do not edit what you wrote. Removed content leaves every page within a couple of minutes.
We keep a copy of removed content and its records for 180 days, because Indian law requires it, and then delete it.
If your content is removed
We email you the rule it broke and how to reply. Reply to that email if you think we got it wrong, and we will look again.
If you are still not satisfied with the Grievance Officer's decision, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee at gac.gov.in within 30 days of that decision.
Repeat breaches
If you break these rules more than once, or once in a serious way, we may stop your account from posting on Outbid, or suspend it. Upvoting still works for an account that cannot post, unless the whole account is suspended. We may void upvotes from accounts used to game the board.
Part 3. Outbid Rules for paid placement
What a payment buys
A payment adds to your listing's total. The board ranks listings by total paid, highest first. That is all a payment does.
- To take a rank, your new total must be at least one step more than the listing holding it. A step is Rs 1, or $1 if you pay in dollars.
- There are two boards. All-time adds up every payment. Today adds up payments made since midnight India time and resets each midnight. Every payment counts on both.
- If we remove a listing by mistake, we refund payments made in the last 30 days through Dodo Payments, and any older payment by bank transfer.
- The smallest single payment is Rs 49 or $2. To pass another listing, your new total must be more than its total.
- Totals are kept in rupees. A dollar payment is converted at a fixed rate shown on the claim sheet before you pay, and that rate is stored with the payment.
- Ties are broken by who reached the total first.
What a payment does not buy
No prize, no winnings and no cash value. A placement cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for money. Outbid is not a game, a contest or a lottery. Nothing on it depends on chance.
How paid placement is labelled
Every paid listing shows its total paid and is labelled as paid placement. Links from paid listings are marked as sponsored links. Upvotes and critiques are separate and are never paid for.
Before you pay
The claim sheet shows the rules below above the Pay button, and asks you to confirm you have read these rules. We store which version you accepted.
- Your payment adds to this listing's total. The highest total ranks first.
- Anyone can take your rank by paying more than your total. No refund if someone outbids you.
- No refund if we remove your listing for breaking these rules.
- A full refund if we remove your listing by mistake.
We never show a countdown, and we never hold a rank for you while you pay.
Refunds
These are the same as in our Refund and Cancellation Policy:
- Outbid by someone else: no refund.
- Removed because the listing broke these rules: no refund.
- Removed by our mistake: every payment on it refunded in full.
Critiques on your listing
Critiques are public. You cannot delete a critique on your own listing. If one breaks these rules, report it like anyone else.
Removal and rank
If a listing is removed, its totals leave both boards at once, and the board re-ranks.
Changes to these rules
We will update the version and date above when these rules change. A change never takes back a placement you already paid for.
